Dear distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen

Welcome to DBX Kurdistan, the first international trade show and conference in free Iraq. On behalf of the Kurdistan Regional Government, I warmly welcome all of you. We especially welcome representatives of governments, international businesses, and other international participants who have made the effort and taken the time to come and be with us. We welcome the media. I am indeed grateful to the Iraqi-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry and to the Kurdistan Development Corporation for their tenacious efforts in organizing this special event.

DBX Kurdistan activities

With the participation of 300 international companies from 27 countries, DBX Kurdistan activities were launched on 15 through 18 of September 2005. Through opening ceremonies, Iraqi ministers emphasized the importance of encouraging private businesses and attracting more investments from foreign countries to help rebuild Iraq. Those ministers indicated the role of expo and conference in showing economic opportunities available in Iraq.

The organizers of the conference sought for identifying the local market, the economic and investment opportunities in various sectors like infrastructure, technology, industry, encouraging investors to work in Iraq.

In the meantime, the participants discussed many issues relevant to rebuilding Iraq, projects and opportunities of investment in industry, trade, tourism, service, technology and construction.  The Iraqi market won't stay longer without great competitors.  Participation of King Abdullah 11 Center

Business sessions held at Kurdistan conference (DBX)
Participants in these sessions presented their companies projects in different work fields.
Trade and investment session Director of planning in Ministry of Planning Mr. Gassan Al-Abttan stressed the role of private sector and foreign investments in economic development indicating that Iraq needs to achieve an economic growth rate of 12% to eliminate unemployment which exceeded 30%.
Moreover, he stated that lack of trust between private and public sectors in the previous era led private sector to concentrate on minor agricultural projects only.

The activities of DBX Kurdistan finished
With the participation of 320 international companies and 500 businessmen and economists the IACCI has successfully finished DBX Kurdistan Trade Show and Conference.
Mr. Raad Ommar, IACCI executive manager, said that DBX visitors' number has reached 95,000 attendees. Contracts signed
The Iraqi-Lebanese Man Company has singed an agreement of 400 million dollars for building bridges. "The project covers 1000.000 square meters and includes 6000 trade shop" he elaborated.
